Merck Foundation yaahidi kujenga mikakati ya afya na kuboresha upatikanaji wa ubunifu na usawa ufumbuzi huduma za afya nchini Tanzania

Nimefurahi kukutana na wewe leo katika Mazungumzo yetu na makamu wa Rais, Mheshimiwa Samia Suluhu Hassan. Ufuatao ni muhtasari wa yele ambayo Dr. Rasha Kelej amezungumza na meheshimiwa makamu wa Rais.
Katika mazungumzo yao, Mheshimiwa makamu wa Rais, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan na Dr. Rasha Kelej(CEO wa Merck Foundation), Dr Rasha Kelej amemuhakikishia mheshimiwa makamu wa Rais kuwa, Merck Foundation wamejitolea kuisaidia serikali ya Tanzania katika jitihada zake za kuboresha sekta ya afya kwa Tanzania bara na visiwani kupitia mpango wa Corporate Social responsibility kwa Africa (CSR for Africa).
 
Merck foundation itajikita Zaidi katika kugaramia mafunzo kwa wataalamu wa afya kwenye maeneo ya saratani kwa watoto (paediatric oncology) matibabu ya saratani kwa upasuaji (surgical oncology) matibabu ya saratani kwa utabibu (medical oncology). Mafunzo kwa wataalamu hawa yatatolewa kwa muda wa mwaka mmoija hadi mitatu katika mataifa ya india, ulaya, india na Kenya. Lengo kuu hasa kwa mafunzo haya ya wataalamu wa afya ni kuboresha upatikanaji wa huduma zote zinahusu saratani.
 
Vilevile Merck Foundation wamemuhakikishia makamu wa Rais kuwa watajikita katika kuwajengea uwezo akina mama wenye matatizo ya ugumba kwa kuhakikisha wanapata taarifa sahihi zinazohusia na matatizo ya ugumba. Hii itasaidia kubadilisha mtazamo ambao umejengeka kwenye jamii kuhusu masuala ya ugumba kwa akina mama. Ajenda hii itasimamiwa kupitia program ya” MERCK MORE THAN A MOTHER”

“Tatizo la ugumba kwa wanandoa barani Africa ni kubwa. Inakadiriwa kwamba katika kila ndoa nne moja inasumbuliwa na changamoto ya ugumba, na karibu asilimia 85 ya ugumba inasababishwa na ukosefu wa matibabu kwa magonjwa ambayo yanaweza kutibika. “Hivyo basi kama jamii itapata taarifa sahihi kuhusu nafasi ya mwanaume na mwanamke kwenye matatizo ya ugumba kwa kupiti vyombo vya habari, basi ni Dhahiri tutapata uelewa mkubwa”, alisema Dr Rasha Kelej’’

“Changamoto ya ugumba inaweza kusababishwa na mwanaume au mwanamke lakini mara nyingi ni wanawake wanaolaumiwa, kuteswa na kunyanyaswa na jamii kwa sababu ya ugumba. Kampeni hii itawasaidia wanaume kuzungmza kwa uwazi na wake zao kuhusu safari nzima ya matibabu yao ya ugumba’’, aliongeza Dr Kelej.
 
Aidha, mheshimiwa Makamu wa Rais, Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan aliwapongeza Merck Foundation kwa juhudi zao kwenye sekta ya afya Africa na amewakalibisha kwa mikono miwili nchini Tanzania. Dr Samia Hassan alisema “Serikali ya Tanzania inawakaribisha Merck Foundation Tanzania na serikali yetu inafurahi na iko tayari kushirikiana na Merck makamu wa raisi.”
